Privacy Policy

Effective 5 July 2026. This policy explains what Trasse collects, why, and the choices you have.

Trasse (“Trasse”, “we”, “us”) provides a live tracking and management service for school buses and fleets. Parents follow their child’s bus in real time, drivers run routes, and organizations manage vehicles and trips. This policy applies to our mobile apps and websites (the “Service”).

Information we collect

We only collect what the Service needs to work:

  • Account details — your name, email address and phone number when you or your organization creates your account. Drivers also provide a date of birth to confirm they are 18 or older.
  • Location data — when a driver runs a route, the app collects the vehicle’s precise GPS location, including in the background, so parents can see the bus move and receive arrival alerts. Location is collected only while a trip is active. Parents’ own device location is not tracked.
  • Trip and usage data — routes, stops, trip times and history for the vehicles linked to your organization.
  • Messages and photos — if you use in-app messaging, we store the messages and any images you send so they can be delivered to the other person.
  • Device and notification data — a push-notification token and basic device information so we can send you alerts and keep the app reliable.

How we use your information

  • To show live bus location, estimated arrival times and trip history.
  • To send pickup, arrival and account notifications you’ve enabled.
  • To deliver messages between parents and drivers in the same organization.
  • To operate, secure, and improve the Service and provide support.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

How location works

Background location is used by the driver app only, and only while a bus route is in progress, so live tracking keeps working when the phone is locked or the app is in the background. When the route ends, background location collection stops. You can turn location permission off at any time in your device settings, though live tracking will not function without it.

Who we share it with

We share information only with service providers that help us run the Service, under agreements that require them to protect it:

  • Google Firebase — authentication, database, and push notifications.
  • Cloudinary — secure hosting of images sent in messages.
  • Paystack — payment processing for organizations that subscribe.
  • Brevo — sending transactional and account emails.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the safety, rights, or property of our users.

Organization isolation

Each organization’s data is kept separate. Parents can see only their own child, drivers see only the vehicles and routes assigned to them, and no organization can see another organization’s data.

Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. When you ask us to delete your account, we permanently remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we are legally required to retain certain records.

Children’s information

Trasse accounts are held by adults — parents, drivers, and organization staff. Information about a child (such as their name and assigned bus route) is provided and managed by their parent or the organization. We do not knowingly allow children to create their own accounts, and we use children’s information only to provide the tracking service to their parent and school.

Your rights and choices

  • Access or update your account details in the app.
  • Request a copy of your data, or ask us to delete your account and data.
  • Control notifications and location permission in your device settings.

Security

We use encryption in transit, access controls, and organization-level isolation to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your information safe and to respond quickly to any issue.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll change the effective date above and, for significant changes, notify you in the app or by email.
